Embu authorities impose curfew in Kamiu following discovery of two bodies
In Summary

Chief Njagi said the deceased—believed to be young men, possibly students—had visible physical injuries.

A night curfew has been instituted in Kamiu Village, Embu, after two bodies were discovered early Wednesday along the road linking Kamiu and Blue Valley.

Kamiu Location Chief Sammy Njagi announced that the curfew will run from 9 pm to 6 am, cautioning that anyone found breaching the order will be treated as a suspect in connection to a recent wave of muggings troubling the area.

Chief Njagi said the deceased—believed to be young men, possibly students—had visible physical injuries.

However, he noted that it remains uncertain whether they were victims of a robbery or suspected criminals who may have been attacked by locals.

"If they were indeed criminals, residents should not take the law into their own hands. Such suspects must be handed over to the police for interrogation," Njagi was quoted saying by Citizen Digital.

Chief Sammy Njagi pointed out that the large student population in Kamiu has made the area a hotspot for muggings, with criminals taking advantage of the vulnerability of young people.

He called on the youth to steer clear of unlawful behavior and instead focus on building their lives through hard work and integrity.

The discovery of the bodies sent shockwaves through the community, with residents expressing fear and concern.

Paul Maina, a boda boda rider in the area, mentioned that there were reports of a robbery the previous night and speculated that the two individuals might have been confronted by residents.

"We’re not sure whether they were attacked by a mob or possibly assaulted by fellow criminals," Maina said.

The bodies were moved to the Embu Level Five Hospital mortuary as investigations get underway.

Authorities have appealed to the public to share any information that might aid in the probe.
